On 1 October 1990, Rubaiyat - Elektra's 40th Anniversary compilation album was released in the United Kingdom. A various artists celebrating the 40th anniversary of Elektra Records, to which The Cure were signed in the United States. Their contribution was a cover version of The Doors' Hello I Love You, which was recorded earlier this year.

The Cure recorded three versions of this song in one night in Launceston, Cornwall. First two versions, according to Robert Smith: 'a straight one' and 'a crazed one', were released on this compilation album, the last version 'a weird one' was not appear on any album until 2004, when it was released on Join The Dots compilation. All three versions were produced Steve Whitfield and The Cure, and mixed by Bryan 'Chuck' New.

Also, this compilation album featured a cover version of The Cure's Inbetween Days by John Eddie.
